This half-day morning course is ideal for clinicians with little or no previous ultrasound experience. It provides a foundational introduction to the use of transabdominal ultrasound in gynaecology and early pregnancy, with a strong emphasis on developing core skills in image acquisition and probe handling. You’ll gain confidence in using ultrasound equipment and interpreting basic pelvic anatomy.

This half-day afternoon course focuses on the safe and effective use of transvaginal ultrasound, ideal for clinicians looking to develop confidence in performing internal pelvic scans. Building on the basic skills from the TA scanning session or your previous experience, this course helps participants understand when and how to use TV scanning, including its advantages in gynaecological and early pregnancy assessment.

Obs & Gynae Scanning – Beyond the Basics

This full-day course is aimed at clinicians who already have basic obs & gynae scanning experience, whether through our introductory courses or personal practice. The course dives deeper into scanning during different stages of pregnancy and identifying obstetric and gynaecological pathologies.
What you’ll learn:
- Gynaecological assessment of the pelvic structures using TA and TV scanning techniques (TV on manikins only)
- Recognising common gynaecological pathologies
- Assessment of early pregnancy with ultrasound
- Assessment of late pregnancy with ultrasound including lie, presentation, fetal heart, multiple pregnancy, placental position, liquor volume, and biometrics
How is the course taught?
- Pre-course preparation videos
- Lectures on pregnancy and gynaecological pathology
- Practical scanning sessions, involving TA scanning on live models (including pregnant volunteers) and simulators, and TV scanning using manikins and simulators
