About our Basic Gynaecology Ultrasound for Sexual Health Clinicians Course

Who is this course suitable for?
This half-day practical session is designed for clinicians working in sexual health, family planning, and reproductive health who wish to develop basic ultrasound skills relevant to their practice. No prior ultrasound experience is required.

What does the course cover?
The course will cover the following key areas:
- How to use ultrasound and obtain useful images
- Uterus measurements and normal findings
- Using ultrasound for IUD localisation
- Early pregnancy identification

How is the course taught?
The course includes short lectures covering the basics, but the primary focus is on guided practical scanning sessions. Practical scanning will progress from handling an ultrasound machine with normal human volunteers (transabdominal) to the assessment of early pregnancy and pathology on models and simulators. We will then move on to transvaginal ultrasound skills, working with a range of manikins.
